My favourite word

I have been thinking about this topic over the last few hours. I have come up with at least three favourite words so I will have to start an elimination process of sorts.

My words are: serenity, resilience and authenticity! These words are music to my ears.

Serenity – I remember in my early twenties and someone asked me, “If you could have anything in the world, what would it be?” My response was that peace of mind has to be the most important possession as how can we enjoy anything else without it?

Resilience – I even like the sound of the word! It sort of bounces back on itself – re sil  i ence – don’t you think?

There have been times in my life where I felt like I had been run over by a steam roller and couldn’t get any flatter. I didn’t realise there was such a thing as resilience then. Why wasn’t it taught in schools? I hope that it is now.

Authenticity – to be real and to be true to myself; that is really important to me. I acknowledge that in my professional life I need to get on and do what ever is required of me at the time. After all, I have been paid to do a specific job and that doesn’t always require me to demonstrate who I am as a person, but to demonstrate my skills and knowledge.

So to choose – which one is my favourite?  If I really had to select one I would probably go back to my original choice of serenity (peace of mind) as what joy is there in life without it?

You know, I really enjoy blogging because I can practise serenity, resilience and authenticity in what I write about! I write in my blog primarily because I want to improve my writing and the rest is a bonus for me 🙂
