What do I want to accomplish with my blog? What is it for?

Monkeys Blogging

When I started blogging at the beginning of the year my prime purpose for writing a blog was to get more practise writing, and to be writing on a regular basis. It has gone beyond that now.

It is a challenge to me each day to post something, and it is the challenge of trying to write something interesting that motivates me. I really love it when other people read my blog and when someone leaves a comment! It then becomes a connection with another person, sometimes thousands of miles away, and for that moment we share something special with each other. It may be a realisation that other people have similar thoughts, values or interests and the distance between us just disappears. I love it!

Interestingly, doing my blog has given me an avenue to relive events in my past and to share them with others. In doing this it helps me see myself differently. All these different “threads” of blogs are parts of me and my life. I feel grateful about much of what I have experienced in my life, ie the places I have lived and the people I have met along the way.

If I was to lose my blog today, say if WordPress disappeared, I would feel it as a real loss. I love the applications that come with WordPress and I  really enjoy learning how to put the my blog site together. I still have a lot to learn eg about adding photos and about copyright legislation!

Thanks to WordPress for such a great opportunity to take part and learn and for all you people who take the time to read my words! It makes my day so much brighter for the experience.

  1. I completely agree! Although I was a ‘late starter’ with post a day I am finding it a challenge, a joy and a whole new series of connections. I too love it when someone stops by to comment or ‘like’ something I have written or a photo, but I am also loving the connection that brings me to other ‘bloggers’.
