LOVE ME – THAT IS ALL I ASK OF YOU
Isn’t that what we all want? Someone to just “love us”. This song is from the Phantom of the Opera – my favourite musical of all time. I haven’t seen many but this one really touched my heart. You may not think of Karaoke when you hear this song… but on to my story…
My husband and I had a great set up with a couple of friends in Perth. Every month or so we would get together at our home and enjoy singing our favourite songs. We had some karaoke technology plus some good food and company. We had our different favourites however we sang in a group if the song had wide appeal. The Eagles were our favourite musicians – I liked “Taking it to the Limit”. Linley sang some great fun songs like, It is Raining Men and some Abba classics. My husband really does a great job of the love songs – Lady in Red, I Can’t Help Falling in Love and other romantic ones.
Linley’s partner, Bruce, was a bit timid about singing at first. He needed some “karaoke grooming” and he eventually found his voice. Bruce enjoyed musicals too so he and I attempted to do some duets. The one we sang together was “All I Ask of You”. This song will always remind me of Bruce. He is very ill at present and our thoughts are with him and Linley at this time.

forget these wide-eyed fears;
I’m here, nothing can harm you,
my words will warm and calm you.Let me be your freedom,
let daylight dry your tears;
I’m here, with you, beside you,
to guard you and to guide you.CHRISTINE
Say you love me every waking moment,
turn my head with talk of summertime.
Say you need me with you now and always;
promise me that all you say is true,
that’s all I ask of you.Let me be your shelter,
let me be your light;
you’re safe, no one will find you,
your fears are far behind you.
All I want is freedom,
a world with no more night;
and you, always beside me,
to hold me and to hide me.
Then say you’ll share with me one love, one lifetime;
let me lead you from your solitude.
Say you need me with you, here beside you,
anywhere you go, let me go too,
Christine, that’s all I ask of you
Say you’ll share with me one love, one lifetime;
say the word and I will follow you.
Share each day with me,
each night, each morning.
Say you love me!
You know I do.
Love me, that’s all I ask of you
