I learned a new word: weir, though I’d think it not so safe to swim near a dam! Maybe that might have added to the water fear.
Thanks for your visit Eric. It is actually a man-made channel that is used to irrigate nearby farmland. The weir enables the water to be regulated – regardless I don’t think I would swim there even today – too much white water!
