For more information about the Weekly Photo Challenge click HERE Here are my contributions to this week’s photo challenge. The first one is an accidental photo taken of myself (before selfies were so popular). The second is of a frog losing its grip on our barbecue outside.
I came across a passage of study recently in one of my online Philosophy Works sessions and it really spoke to me. I will quote it below: “There is one mind common to all individual men. Every man is an inlet to the same and to all of the same. He that at once is admitted to the right of reason is made a freeman of the whole estate. What Plato has taught, he may […]
When I set myself the task of finding a poem to post this week I had no idea how difficult it might be. Most of the poetry I found (and liked) was about death, grief and broken hearts and I didn’t want to go there. I am also a little nervous about posting poems that are subject to copyright. I think the one I have found overcomes these obstacles. It is called: DREAM Last night […]
Here are a few snaps that stood out to me for this week’s topic. Included are the following: the London Eye; a shop in Shannon, Ireland searching for ancestors (my maiden name was O’Halloran); my three sons and I looking at an iron-ore mine in Newman, Western Australia; a shot-tower in Melbourne, Victoria that formed part of a modern shopping centre; and the cat! There was an Old Man in a Tree There was an old man in a tree, Who was horribly […]

I have all the ingredients ready to make the pudding this weekend. Here are the ingredients: 8 ounces of flour 8 ounces of suet (I use butter) 8 ounces of dark brown sugar 8 ounces of bread crumbs (white bread). 2 and 1/4 of dried fruit […]
It is time for a semester break with the School of Practical Philosophy. I took out my notes this evening to refresh my memory of what I learned last semester. One thing stood out to me: LOOK FOR BEAUTY. If you don’t see it, look again. And again. I like the emphasis on not giving up after the first go but to persevere. Some days are like that.
