My choice for this week’s challenge is an old railway signal 0il lamp in what was a black metal case. It is a single wick 0il burner with rotating blue and red lenses. It was used in the Victorian Railways when Bendigo was known as Sandhurst (see the markings on the lamp).
A poll was taken on April 28, 1891 to determine whether or not to change the name. Click HERE if you would like to read an article from a paper at the time.
This really is rare, Rainee. π
Thanks for your comment Ranu π
I’ve seen some of the old battery powered railroad lamps recently in the thrift store, which are rare, but an oil version, VERY rare! Thanks for posting this!
Handsome and historic choice for the challenge. π
Thanks Judy π
