This is a mega example of repurposing!
Check out the link to Wikipedia about the Melbourne Central Shopping Centre
“Contained underneath the shopping centre’s massive glass cone sits the Coop’s Shot Tower which was built on the site in 1888. After last being used in 1961, the tower was retained to become a focal-point of the centre, R.M. Williams and the Shot Tower Museum now take up the inside of it.”

That is so clever, so many people would have taken it down because it was in the way. We have an old gaol here, that has been turned into a shopping centre, with the prison governor’s still in the centre.
I was pleased they saved it as I used to see it every day on my way to work in the city – a local landmark. I like the sound of the gaol – it would have a real atmosphere!
That should have said Governor’s HOUSE. Most people go in, do their shopping, and leave. I find it difficult to wander round, knowing you are in the prison yard, without thinking about the place. It was the site of public executions, and many of the bodies were buried inside the present building, a lot of people say it is haunted now.
That is so astute, such a large number of individuals would have brought it down on the grounds that it is standing out…
