There is so much pressure for us to get involved in stuff. I find it all the time. I think it is about time I accepted that I like my life the way it is!

I am surrounded by people who are always off on holidays. Normal conversation involves talking about where you have been and where you are going next. I feel a bit inadequate not being able to contribute.

I am not into sport either – or the theatre. I am happy to stay home and watch some good programs on Netflix, read good novels and the like.

Perhaps it is in part due to be an introvert. I can spend hours researching obscure topics of interest.

So I think in future I will remind myself it is okay to have a small life – as long as I am happy with it the way it is. No problem with other people having busy lives if that is what makes them happy!

  1. No! Not a small life! A meaningful life lived by your terms! You can’t be living a small life if you’re constantly helping others, the way you do! Live life… your way! ๐Ÿ˜‰

    • Well it seems small compared to many others – I hear what you are saying though, thanks ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. Rainee ~ One of the best tricks Iโ€™ve found to discern whether Iโ€™m on the right path for me is to envision this as the last year of my life . . . to question whether I would regret spending the next 12 months engaged in similar endeavors.

If Iโ€™m happy with the flow of my days and nights, then my life is a good fit for me.

    • Thanks Nancy. That is a good way of looking at it. Based on that criteria – yes, I am happy with my life :).

  3. I can relate to this piece as a fellow introvert. It is difficult to feel ‘adequate’ or ‘involved’ by wordly standards, which I might add, favour the extroverted persona. On the other hand those of us who bless the world as introverts help keep the ‘noise’ down as we quietly and purposefully go about life happy in our skin and content to bask in the solitude that is our own company. Don’t change a thing Rainee ๐Ÿ™‚ We are all fearfully and wonderfully made. Linda

  4. Sounds like you are very happy with the life you have chosen, Rainee. The world would be a boring place if we were all the same, with same lifestyles.

Fear of missing out is something real. Don’t know how to deal with it but I think social media plays a big part in that ๐Ÿ™‚ I wrote about this actually, if you wanna check it out (you don’t haev to of course lol)
