I got a pleasant surprise today when a distant cousin sent me some old photos and scans. One family member who is well known to me from stories but I didn’t ever meet her – my Great Auntie Mary. She was born in 1892 and died in 1994.

I wonder if that skirt suit was a casual outfit or if your auntie was dressed for the workplace. I’m partial to the 1930s and ’40s style for women, and it’s fun to see it in old photographs.
Thanks for viewing :). I suspect she was working 🙂
I bet that was a thrill to read…fills in a few holes in the family history no doubt. But love the shoes… thinking back to our family photos of that era, all ladies wore sensible but still stylish shoes ! 🙂
Yes, it was a great find thanks David 🙂
I like the cut of her gib!
The poem was fun to read too.
Thanks Nancy 🙂
Interesting! My good lady’s father’s mother was a Moran!!
Small world? Apparently she was born in Guildford but grew up in Aldershot…
Family?? 😉
We could be related 🙂
Great post! I love it when ancestors get to be centenarians – so much great genealogy typically gets published in newspapers!
What a treasure to cherish. Lovely. Thanks for sharing Rainee.
